Games Coming Soon For The PS4

Yesterday the PlayStation 4 was announced and with it, came a bunch of games for the system, here are just a few of those that are to come.

Killzone: Shadow Fall
This game is set 30 years after Killzone 3. After a massive battle two opposing fractions are separated by a giant wall, which as you can imagine will set you off on your adventure. The game really shows off the power of the PS4's hardware, the smallest details such a flaming debris or a civilians conversation is shown in detail and has reminded many gamers of something they would normally only expect to see on a PC.

DriveClub
DriveClub is taking a new look at racing games. It will concentrate on team based driving. The game will link up with you smartphone or tablet so you can manage your team and is set to be one of the first real first person driver games.

Knack
From the people who brought you great titles such as Crash Bandicoot are now bringing out a new adventure. Knack follows the story of a small robot, capable of transforming into a huge form using the blocks in his surrounding area. The game looks very bright and colourful and is set to be a nice change from the all too common first person shooters. It will be compatible with the PS Vita, meaning you can start your game on the PS vita where you left off from the PlayStation 4.

inFAMOUS: Second Son
The third in thee comic book based series, inFamous. No real game play to speak of yet but the trailer has got fans speaking of what could be. The game is set in government controlled future in which a few super powered individuals fight back.

The witness
A new puzzle game from Jonathan Blow and will be on Sony consoles before any other systems. It has a very portal like feel to it, despite having little link to the game. It seems like it will involve a lot of new, never before seen, ideas and may get a whole new audience onto the indie games bandwagon.

Deep Down
From Capcom, Deep Down is a medieval game similar to the likes of Dark Souls and Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Featuring dragons, swords and what not.

WatchDogs
This game was first revealed at E3 2012, but a new section of PS4 game play has been shown. The game play consisted of hacking into bank accounts, using traffic control walls, taking out police cars and chasing down attackers. The video has led to more speculation that WatchDogs could be linked to the Assassins Creed  franchise.

Destiny
From Bungie, the people that brought you Halo and will be one of the many first person shooters that will be coming to the PS4. Some are already calling it a possible "COD killer" to me it seem very similar to Halo, but this may not be too much of a problem as many PlayStation owners may not be regular players of Halo.

Something from Quantic Dream?
They showed of their new graphics, with the face of an elderly man. Doesn't sound like much right? But have a look below and you will see how the face looks almost real. These new graphics will change the way we feel about characters, seeing them as real rather then an animation will make game far more like films then ever before.

The Last Of Us Preview

What is Last Of Us?
The Last Of Us is a third person adventure game by Naughty Dog, developers of the famous Uncharted franchise. It is based in a post apocalyptic world where you'll find abandoned cities reclaimed by nature, a population destroyed by a modern day plague and the remaining survivours killing each other for food.

(left).
What platforms will it available for?
The game hasn't had much details released about it other than it will most likely be available sometime 2013.

More Information?
Naughty Dog's Uncharted series are very well known for good graphics, deep plot lines and the action. I'm pretty sure this game will be no exception to that.

The main characters in the game are Ellie and Joel
. Joel is a "ruthless" survivor and Ellie is a 14-year-old girl who is wise beyond her years but is too young to remember the world as it once was. The Last of Us begins in a Boston quarantine zone 20 years after a fungal plague decimated modern civilization. Ellie, a 14-year-old orphan, lives in a strict boarding house, and Joel, who is a black market dealer within the quarantine zone, sells weapons and drugs. An event occurs where Joel makes a promise to a dying friend that he will protect Ellie and help her escape. As they both make their way out of the quarantine zone with their lives, the game then starts to play throughout areas across the United States.

The game has already won awards such as "Best Game of E3" and "Best PS3 Game". This shows that what's coming ahead may be well worth the wait. For more make sure to subsribe to El Senores.

ZombiU Preview

Swinging a cricket bat at a menacing looking zombie.
Good zombie games are scarce these days with only a few well known ones such as Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, but I think soon there will be another great addition... I am talking about 'ZombiU'.

The new game will only be available on the new 'WiiU' for now but good news is that it has been rumoured to also be released on other platforms. This is a great thing and hopefully it becomes true because it looks awesome. At E3 a 10 minute presentation was given of one of the missions, where the player had to find some antibiotics in a school. The twist seems to be that once a character dies you cannot play with them again and seeing how this works will be very interesting - from the demo we are a woman character working her way through the school but she dies and instead of going into a menu, a new character wakes up with a voice in the ear saying "let's hope I can keep you alive longer than the last person". A bit later we can see the dead character come back to eventually kill the new player.

I haven't actually seen other WiiU games but compared to the normal Wii, the graphics are outstanding. It looks to have some nice environmental details and the zombies look rather frightening.

The best thing though, is the location it is based. In the glorious United Kingdom! I have seen too many games based in America and it's nice to have a change even if it is one that makes no difference to the experience of play. But there still may be other countries which the game takes you too, which would be pretty cool also.

Lollipop Chainsaw Preview

File:Lollipop Chainsaw Cover Art.png
The rather intriguing game poster.
I was watching the TV yesterday when a rather peculiar ad came on, catching my eye. At the start I thought it was another dance game but out of no where there were frickin' zombies! I spent the next one minute in utter confusion with what I just saw... So I dug deeper into the game and found it actually sounds pretty interesting.

Lollipop Chainsaw focuses on zombie hunter and cheerleader Juliet Starling who fights hordes of zombies in San Romero High School. Juliet will be assisted by her sisters, Cordelia Starling, the elder one and Rosalind Starling the younger sister. The enemy zombies are led by "a group of zombie rock and roll lords" who were former high school students who were turned into intelligent zombies that each have different personalities, music-styles and motif's.
The zombie outbreak has been caused by Juliet's former classmate, an evil goth druid named Swan , who seeks to break the barrier between the dead and the alive.

So it seems that Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack and slash but with a sexy and fun twist to it. A game I'll be looking forward to playing.

The Amazing Spiderman Preview!

The awesome looking poster for
"The Amazing Spider-Man".
Hello movie people, I'm back with another great preview. Today I watched 'The Amazing Spiderman' trailer, well actually I watched a few of them, there were a actually a fair amount of trailers and out of sheer boredom I watched all of them. Luckily at the expense of my free time from watching the many trailers I am now able to give a fairly detailed review of this upcoming movie.

The trailer I just watched shows the film full of action, with fast fight scenes and large explosions it is clear what we can expect in this movie. The fight scenes accentuate Spidermans great acrobatic movement and show just how fast he really is. Obviously this unique fighting style is expected from the Spiderman character.

In another trailer there is a really interesting use of CGI/Camera work when we are shown the movement of Spiderman through his own eyes, not only do we get a great sense of how he would feel when leaping and swinging across Manhattan but it also adds a new and original way for the audience to see how Spiderman is able to move with such fluidity. I really think it would be interesting to see how this style could be used during the film but sadly I doubt it will be used much.

There also appears to be a new enemy however Senor Comic Book has yet to be found  so although the enemy is new to me and many other fans of Spiderman who have only ever seen the films, I have no idea if this new enemy has appeared in the comics before or if he is a new invention(most likely the former) so sadly I cant really comment much on this.

This new film, which if you don't know is meant to be totally uninvolved and separate from the previous instalments seems to be a lot more focused on Peter Parkers background and in each of the trailers I have seen there is at least one flashback. The flashbacks are mostly centred around the young Peter Parker and the fate of his parents showing us that this will play a very important part in the storyline.

Once again this film looks very good (damn there's a lot of good movies coming up) and of course I will review it as soon as possible. If you would like me to review a specific Film or even television show(which I'm keen to do) then leave a comment and I'll give it a go.

Watch the same trailer I watched here!

Out Soon! July 3rd !

Another Senor was pretty keen I check this out and write a preview analysis and I'm glad he asked so. This is because once again Ubisoft have produced a stunner.

The game this time seems to be set during the American civil war and the best thing about the E3 footage is that Ubisoft have implemented weather. The difference between this and other games is that it seems to effect the player, you can clearly see that the assassin must drag his way through the snow rather than just running on top.

Another feature put in the game is pretty damn cool. By that I am talking about the hunting. It reminds me of games like Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption where I would just go round shooting animals but I am hoping that the use of a bow & arrow would require some skill, similar to Skyrim.

That brings me onto the next thing. The weapons. There are guns, but that's something familiar to the series. A difference would be the type of gun because at that period of time cannons and rifles were available so I'm sure other such gizmos will be there to buy. Wesee some kind of rope killing contraption and an axe which seems pretty cool.

With the use of weapons we see brand new or improved animations. Movement appears to be more solid and fluent while going person to person hacking their face off. Also the short snippet of climbing right at the end seems to be improved.

Overall I'd say this game is a defo buy for those that have owned the other games and loved them. Even if you haven't played the others keep an eye on this future bad boy.

Black Ops II Single Player Preview

One of the characters you play.
When the first trailer was released earlier this year like me, the Senores  here, were skeptical of what the series had to offer. I myself dislike the Call Of Duty series but the E3 footage made me think twice about what I think.

Before I started to watch the single player demo I thought to myself 'what would be the mission featured' and I was right. It was the cliche plot line of having to protect the president from death. For the sake of those who buy it I hope it has a bit more depth, but I guess most people only care about the multiplayer.
So the demo starts you off in the city of Los Angeles and you are with a VIP. The aim is to escort him to the extraction point and to do this it's the usual sniping, run and gunning with a small amount of jet flying put in to spruce it up.

The thing that stood out the most was the amount of destruction. I don't know what the multi player will entail but damn, there was a lot fire. If they add something like Battlefield then it would tingle some gaming taste buds. Even though it was a pretty sight I can imagine people shouting at their screens in confusion from the crazy goings on.
The guns seem fairly the same as the rest of the series with a few notable changes. The addition of technology (by that I mean fancy looking scopes) and a few more but I'll let you discover them yourselves.

To be honest I think Treyach will stick to the famous formula that has won them many awards. So if you're a COD fanatic keep an eye out, otherwise expect nothing new.

Watch Dogs Preview

'Oh my god' was the first thing that popped into my head. Why? Watch the video I posted below and you'll see exactly why but if your not quite up for the 9 minute preview, I'll give you a little written preview!

If the whole game is what you get to see in the 10 minutes then this will be some serious hit, rivalring such games as Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row and other similar sandbox action games. Here's a quote given by Ubisoft:
"Development of Watch Dogs is being led by Ubisoft Montreal, with a team comprised of industry veterans from blockbuster franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow 6 and Far Cry. Watch Dogs blends cutting-edge technologies and sophisticated game design into a realistic and living open world where players must use any means at their disposal to take down a corrupt system.
In Watch Dogs, players enter the dangerous world of Aiden Pearce, a new class of antihero whose ability to hack into any connected system could be his most powerful weapon. Whether it’s triggering a 30-car pileup by manipulating traffic-lights to trap an enemy during a downtown shootout or tapping into the city’s omnipresent security cameras to access anyone’s personal information, Pearce is capable of coercing and controlling almost every element of the world around him."
The thing that impressed me the most was the realism with the fight scene, character modelling and the pretty awesome car crash/ ability to cause the pile up. Ultimately though my decision on buying the game will be the multiplayer and what it can do to rival Grand Theft Auto.

FIFA 13 Gameplay Preview

Here is the brand new trailer of FIFA 13 which shows off the gameplay mechanics and an analysis of what we can see.

Few games can pack them in like FIFA, the assembled games press fill every seat in the cinema-size venue as FIFA 13 gets ready to make its debut. We’re in for a lengthy introduction too, as David Rutter’s Canada-based development team takes its time in guiding us through a series of key points.

Like most FIFA 12 devotees the yearly update brings mixed-feelings. What if the style of play is changed just too much? What if the controls are changed in a way that feels just plain wrong? They’re questions Rutter is immediately keen to address, explaining that if the philosophy behind FIFA 12 was ‘revolution’, then FIFA 13′smantra is more ‘evolution’; a refinement of what already exists and a ‘capturing of the unpredictability of real football.’

A statistic he shares, which reveals that your average FIFA player spends more time on FIFA 12 (57 minutes) than on Facebook (46 minutes) every single day, perhaps best illustrating why anything other than fine-tuning would be inadvisable anyway – it would take a brave company to make too many changes to such a popular franchise.

It’s Aaron McHardy, FIFA 13’s lead gameplay designer, who takes us through each refinement, first admitting to some of the deficiencies in FIFA 12 – the famous “FIFA kiss” for example, or an issue known as “catapulting” which are all directly attributable to unrealistic strength across parts of the player models – before acquainting us with the latest iteration.

As he takes us through an illustrated guide to FIFA 13′s updates he begins by describing how the expansion of one of FIFA 12′s successes, the “player impact” engine, became intrinsic to FIFA 13, the mechanic usually reserved for when defender blocked attacker now being implemented across the whole pitch. Big, strong defenders will now be better able to push an attacker off the ball (without incurring the wrath of the referee), defenders will look to block the run of an off-the-attacker and attackers will no longer have instant control when receiving a pass.

This battle for possession swings both ways however, a defender for example won’t be blessed with Ronaldinho-like control either, rather he’ll now have to clear his lines unless he wants to risk a fleet-footed striker taking advantage of a poor first touch, as EA look to make good on their promise of having FIFA ever closer to real football.

With defenders receiving their share of enhancements so too must attackers, the key aspect here the fundamental change to how off-the-ball players analyse space and eventually pick the direction and timing of their run. Underneath the hood there’s a different system in play this time, and where a player might have made unrealistic “zig-zag” runs before, here attackers stick to their guns and make their run with stronger conviction; even predicting not just what the player’s next pass might be, but even the pass subsequent to that.

Freekicks see improvements too with dummy runs (in triplicate) possible for the attacking team, while defensive options include sending out a blocker and pulling extra players into the wall. What’s dubbed “complete dribbling” also makes an appearance this time, with even complex tricks and skills mapped to the left analogue stick. The chance to face up a defender before shimmying and heading passed with a boost of pace now much more intuitive but with hidden depths to please even the most dedicated of fans.
Worth the wait? By the time the bewildering number of changes to FIFA 13 have been described I’m actually left wondering whether there’s more of a revolution taking place here than David Rutter and his team would have us believe. With so much up for an overhaul, from minor tweaks to free kick tactics, to major work on AI, ball control and dribbling, it seem that either EA are exaggerating the changes or will in fact be presentingFIFA fans with an entirely different animal come October.

Given the pedigree of the team and the quality of past releases it’s fair to say the game is in safe hands and without fail the adjustments they’ve revealed point to a more satisfying game of football in every conceivable way; here’s just hoping it all hangs together as a coherent simulation come release day.
