The remains of a body found under a car park in Leicester,UK have been confirmed to be King Richard the Third.
The old monarch was killed, aged 32, in 1485 during battle.
The University of Leicester said DNA from the king's body matched that of descendants of the monarchs. The university said that "beyond reasonable doubt it's Richard".
The body had 10 injuries 8 of which were to the skull. Many of the wounds were described as "humiliation injuries", caused most likely after death, when enemies were "let loose" on the body.
The body was buried crudely an ill fitting grave, the body just tossed into the hole in the ground. Now after being rediscovered, 527 years later, planning is beginning for a proper reburial of the bones.
So after almost a year after the bones were found, they were found in August 2012, they are confirmed to be King Richard III, who may finally be able to rest in peace.
