The Lonely Island's Andy Samberg (left) with Adam Sandler on the right.
So I watched the Trailer for 'That's My Boy' before I watched this I expected it to be another of Adam Sandlers recent awful movies, however after watching this I realised that it actually doesn't seem too bad. The trailer is actually surprisingly funny, the classic story of boy meets middle aged woman and impregnates her is not lost on this trailer. The story is basically about a crappy father who is nothing but a looser and is attempting to restart the failed relationship with his son in the hope that he can use his estranged child self found success to pay off his debts and avoid a prison sentence. Andy Samberg playing the son is understandably unhappy about his poor excuse of a father coming back into his life and we're given many example of how his irresponsible dad has screwed him up, including a giant tattoo of 'The new kids on the block' which he received at the age of 8. When watching this trailer I couldn't help but be reminded of the Adam Sandlers classics, he seems to be playing slightly similar characters as before such as Little Nicky but as its a great character I'm sure nobody will mind.
While the trailer seems fairly funny I cant help but think its a really predictable storyline. My guess is that Sandler's character will move in with his son, who's is hesitant at first but eventually the two will bond, Sandler will then stop caring about the money he needs and be happy that he is with his son. The movie will take a turn when Sambergs character realises that Sandler only found him again for his money, then Samberg will get angry and kick his father out, who will then get soppy. Realise how much he loves his son and make some sort of grand stupid gesture to gain his sons love and respect, the film will end with one big happy family and they'll all cry at the end. It will get a lot of laughs and we'll all feel better for watching.
